An Award Winning Year for Café en Seine

Adston Implementing Winning Design

It’s been a busy year for Dublin’s Café en Seine, following its complete Refurbishment, Refit and reopening, with the venue winning numerous awards throughout the year. The refurbishment and fitout experts at Adston were delighted to be main contractor that delivered Millimetre Design’s winning vision for this iconic venue.

Within months of the re-opening of Café en Seine, judging panels in Ireland and internationally, began to notice the design and quality of the massive refurbishment project. Nominated for a National Hospitality Award and numerous venue awards, the Dawson Street venue also took home an Irish Hospitality Global Award and the City Bar of the Year Award in 2019.

Adston as main contractors on the project, worked closely with Millimetre Design and the Mercantile Group to create an ambitious new vision for the venue. In 2019, Café en Seine featured strongly in the much coveted Muse Design Awards competition, bringing home a Platinum Award for Interior Design. Competing against over 2,000 venues from 42 countries, it also scored a Silver Award in the Interior Design Renovation Award category.

Client Accolades

Adston’s ability to interpret, construct and deliver Café en Seine’s complete overhaul, has been core to its re-introduction to the Dublin landscape, with the Mercantile Group commenting that “We had to choose a contractor we could rely on to deliver the project. With such a dramatic change of design and sort time period to be open for Christmas, we were happy to avail of Adston’s experience, expertise and services in this extremely complex fit-out and build”. With Café en Seine continuing to attract awards buzz, it looks like more awards could be on the way.

Adston Brings Iconic Venue Back to Life

Bringing a complex and sometimes intricate design to life, needs acute attention to detail and high spec craftsmanship. As main contractors for the re-imagination of Café en Seine, Adston was charged with not only the construction and fit-out of the project, but also with co-ordination of large and diverse teams, from project partners and designers to specialist contractors and suppliers.

Café en Seine is no ordinary venue and the construction and fit-out programme had to incorporate planning for refurbishment in a city centre venue, with limited daytime street entry and tight access for major components of the build. With three floors, five bars, a retractable glass roof, dining area and roof top terrace, the Café en Seine project posed challenges along with a fantastic opportunity to bring a wonderful design to life. Adston managed the project in such a way that enabled the venue to re-open in time for the busy winter season. From fire systems to mood lighting and the creation of an indoor streetscape, every detail of the refurbishment and fit out was meticulously planned and implemented by our expert teams.
